On the evening of December 29, the 2023 National Book Awards Ceremony took place at the Hanoi Opera House. The awards were organized by the Vietnam Publishing Association in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Propaganda Department, and Vietnam Television.
The organizers awarded 41 books and book collections, including: two A Prizes, 10 B Prizes, 11 C Prizes, and 18 Encouragement Prizes across five categories: Politics and Economics; Natural Sciences and Technology; Social Sciences and Humanities; Culture, Literature, and Arts; and Children’s Books.
The book series 15 Tips to Help Me Stay Safe (7 volumes) by authors Nguyen Huong Linh, Hoang Anh, Duong Thuy Ly, Nguyen Trong An, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Hong Anh, and Thu Thuy, published by Kim Dong Publishing House, was honored with a C Prize. The book 15 Tips to Help Me Stay Safe on the Internet, authored by CFC writers, is part of this award-winning series.
Created by a team of authors from the Center for Family Health and Community Development (CFC Vietnam), this book targets children aged 6-11. Spanning 68 pages, it presents essential content in a concise, easily understandable format with vibrant illustrations to facilitate children’s engagement.
The book shares “small but mighty” tips, encouraging children to leverage the internet’s benefits while using connected devices safely. It also offers guidance on handling scams and negative encounters on social media and the internet.
Additionally, the book provides challenges to help children consolidate what they’ve learned, such as tips on setting passwords and protecting personal information. All questions are in a multiple-choice format with illustrations, making it easy for children to read, understand, and enjoy answering.
